Baroque in Munich

The main characteristic traits of the baroque in architecture are

-  the broken gable-end
-  the stress of strength and tension
-  the subordination of all single parts under the entire form
-  the strong in swung basic and diagram forms
- and a rich decoration and a pictorial design of the interiors, which cause a festive
   feeling of space.

Up to now we did not deal particularly much with the baroque, but you will see that it can be very interesting . With the help of this project we also became acquainted with some buildings that had been unknown to us before and now we appreciate the baroque with its artistic beauty. Not only were we fascinated by the beauty, but also by stories which we found about the different popular buildings. Not only elderly people admire the most well-known baroque castle of Munich, Nymphenburg , but also children and young people, love frolicking around in the generous park or just lying in the sun – if it shines at all....

Nymphenburg Castle

Now we begin with the beautiful
Nymphenburg Castle

already mentioned above: It was built from 1664 until 1674 by Barelli and Zucalli; it was a gift of elector Ferdinand Maria to Henriette Adelaide von Savoyen  as a reward for the birth of the successor to the throne; Max Emanuel. It was intended to serve as a summer residence. Above all we would like to mention the beauty gallery of Ludwig I., the Marstallmuseum as well as the stone hall. Nymphenburg Castle is the place of birth of our fairy tale king Ludwig II...
Just take the streetcar line 17 or bus 41,  and get off at Nymphenburg. Opening -hours: Tuesday until Sunday 10,00-12,30 o'clock and 13,30-16,00 o'clock

Schloss Schleissheim

Schleißheim Castle

Schloss Schleissheim was elector Max Emanuel‘ s “Versailles“.By building this castle he wanted to carry out imperial dreams of an enormous king residence; but the debts and the exile did not permit that. It was built from 1701 until 1726.
